Interested in joining an Indonesian class to help you learn or improve your Indonesian language skills? Nowadays there are several very good Indonesian classes to offer for those who would like to learn Indonesian language from native Indonesian teachers. And for those who are very busy and can hardly have time for themselves, except on weekends, you can also join an online Indonesian class which has more flexible schedule and therefore can easily fit your daily tight schedule.

This kind of online Indonesian class is gaining more and more popularity today especially among business people and office employees. Most of them are very busy and it’d be very lucky if they could find an empty void in between their daily programs. An online Indonesian class enables them to fit their course within their schedule perfectly. Sometimes they have more free time after work. But sometimes they only have more spare time to learn Bahasa Indonesia only on weekends, when most of them spend their times with their family or friends.

Indonesian Class – Private or Group?

Indonesian Class

There are two kinds of Indonesian classes, private and group. So the question is: Which one is the better one? The answer depends largely on each individual’s needs. One learner, especially one who has never learned Indonesian language before, would fit more into a private Indonesian class, while others who have learned some basic Indonesian language before and able to converse in basic daily Indonesian, could feel that the group one would fit them better.

However for those who would prefer to take a private Indonesian class, they might have a consideration that a private class would be much better than a group class since in private teaching and learning, they’d be able to gain much more lessons than within a group. It is true. Within a private class, a learner would be able to get more lessons than those within a group. Another advantage is that the learner will get the teacher’s full attention and therefore it would be much easier for the teacher to try to improve the learner’s Indonesian speaking and listening skills.

There are also some advantages if you are more interested in learning within a group. By joining a group, you can learn not to make mistakes done by other learners. You can also learn the wrong pronunciation done by others. Learning within a group is also more fun. You will not get bored easily and the class tends to be less serious. However there are also some pitfalls of learning within a group which is the teacher will not be able to focus only on one student. Therefore it is highly recommended for a beginner to enroll in a private Indonesian class rather than in a group. Another disadvantage would be that sometimes when you are learning within a group, you can not protest nor ask the teacher to skip some lessons which you think are too easy for you, especially when that particular subject is relatively new for the other learners who would not mind at all to learn that lesson. In this case, you will have no choice but to again learn the lessons you’ve mastered. This would definitely waste your valuable time.

Within a private Indonesian class, the learners are free to tell the teachers what particular subjects they want to learn. It is also possible to ask the teachers to improve their special aspects of the language, whether it is the speaking, listening or writing skills, or even mixed of all.

By: Indonesianlanguage.net

When you learn Indonesian language, it is very important that you have a good Indonesian English dictionary to help you in your Indonesian learning. However for those who already have one, sometimes it is confusing and even frustrating to look up those Indonesian words in the Indonesian English dictionary. You have no idea how to find the Indonesian words in the dictionary. And you start wondering if the Indonesian English dictionary you have is a good one. If it is, why can’t you find the Indonesian words you are looking for?

Indonesian English Dictionary

For example, you are trying to find the meaning of the word “membawa” in an Indonesian English dictionary. You start opening the pages of ‘m’, hoping to see the word ‘membawa’. But after a while you still can not find the word. What is going on here? What did you do wrong? Why can’t you find the word ‘membawa’ in the pages of the first letter of ‘m’? If you’ve been in this situation before, and still have no clue of how to use the Indonesian English dictionary to look up the Indonesian words, let me help you how to find the Indonesian words in the Indonesian English dictionary.

The Fact About Indonesian English dictionary

The first rule to use the Indonesian English dictionary when trying to find a certain Indonesian word is that you have to take the root word first instead of the full word. For instance, when you are trying to find the word ‘membawa’, try to find out what the root word of the word you’re looking for. In this case, the root word of ‘membawa’ is ‘bawa’. Therefore you have to open the pages of the first letter ‘b’, instead of ‘m’, to find the word ‘bawa’ and there you will find the full word of ‘membawa’.

The same rule applies to when you’re trying to find the meaning of other Indonesian words containing prefixes, such as ber-, meng-, men-, ter-, ke-, mem-, me-, peng-, pem-, and other prefixes. But the question is now: How to know the root word of each Indonesian word with prefixes? The only answer to this question is to learn some basic Indonesian grammar, and that way you can easily recognize the root words of all Indonesian words with prefixes. Therefore it is indeed essential to learn some basic Indonesian grammar so that you can use your Indonesian English dictionary effectively.

All the Indonesian words listed in the Indonesian English dictionary are listed according to their root words, instead of the full words, therefore you need to understand of how to break those full Indonesian words with prefixes to get the root words. And the only way to do this is by learning the Indonesian grammar.

Unfortunately most Indonesian English dictionaries don’t tell nor teach the users exactly of how to find those Indonesian words with prefixes in the dictionaries themselves. It is assumed that all users are familiar of how to use the Indonesian English dictionaries. And this has made many English speakers who are learning Indonesian feel frustrated and confused.

How to Use Indonesian English dictionary

Below you can find some useful tips on how to separate Indonesian words into prefixes and root words so that you can take only the root words.

For the words beginning with the prefix ‘mem-‘, just omit the prefix, and you’ll get the root word. For example, the root word of ‘membawa’ is ‘bawa’.

For the words beginning with the prefix ‘men-‘, just omit the prefix, and you’ll get the root word. For example, the root word of ‘mendapat’ is ‘dapat’. However there are also some words beginning with ‘men-‘ which you have to replace the prefix ‘men’ with ‘t’, and you’ll get the root word. For example, the root word of ‘menaruh’ is ‘taruh’.

For the words beginning with the prefix ‘meny-‘, just replace the prefix with an ‘s’, and you’ll get the root word. For example, the root word of ‘menyisir’ is ‘sisir’.

And there are still other similar rules regarding other prefixes which are easy to understand.

After you understand the above rules, you can easily use your Indonesian English dictionary more effectively.

Before you learn Indonesian grammar or vocabularies, it is essential that you learn how to speak Indonesian first. Each language has its own system of sounds which is unlike that of any other language. When you begin to learn a new language, you must learn to make distinctions which are not made in your own language, and you must learn to articulate in a way different from that to which you are accustomed. Correct pronunciation and the ability to distinguish new sounds do not come automatically, but are achieved through a process of comparison and imitation, as we lead you to do in the exercises in this and the following lessons. The ability to articulate like an Indonesian will come from constant imitation of the sentences and sounds spoken on the tapes and spoken by your tutor.

In this section, we will give you a notion of what the sounds used in Indonesian are, how they are made, and how they differ from those used in English. And hopefully this could give you a slight idea of how to speak Indonesian.

Vowels:

a: In open syllables is pronounced more or less like the a in “far”.

For example: kata = word

In closed syllables it sounds like the English u in “but”.

For example: surat = letter

e: When unstressed is pronounced as the mute e in “open”.

For example: kelas = class

When stressed it sounds somewhere between the e in “bed” and the a in “bad”.

For example: meja = table

i: In open syllables is pronounced as the ee in “feet”.

For example: kita = we

In closed syllables the sound is shorter, like i in “tip”.

For example: minta = to ask for

o: is pronounced like the a in “tall”.

For example: botol = bottle

u: is pronounced like the oo in “tool”, however with lips rounded.

For example: susu = milk

Diphtongs:

ai: The diphthong ai in open syllables sounds like the i in “fine”.

For example: sampai = to arrive

However the diphthong ai can also pronounced as two separate sounds a-i :

For example: lain = other

au: Has the same sound as ow in “how”.

For example: kalau = if

However in closed syllables it is two-syllabic.

For example: haus = thirsty.

Below is the video which could help you learn how to speak Indonesian based on the examples above:

How easy is it to learn Indonesian language? How long does it take for me to learn Bahasa Indonesia so that I can communicate with the locals? What are the most effective ways to learn the language? Is learning Indonesian really necessary? All these questions might have been lingering on your mind for quite a long time yet you’re not sure yet whether or not to find yourself a professional teacher to help you learn Indonesian.

Learn Indonesian

If you are staying in Indonesia or thinking of visiting Indonesia in the near future, it is suggested to learn Indonesian language as soon as possible to enable you to communicate with the locals. It has long been known that most Indonesians can barely speak English which is the major reason of why it is necessary to learn Indonesian language, especially if you plan to stay in Indonesia for months or even years.

If you are really serious in learning the language, you should be able to converse in Indonesian language only within months. It is because Indonesian language is considered as one of the easiest languages in the whole world. There are no tenses in Indonesian. No past tense nor perfect tense or whatsoever.

Let Us Help You Learn Indonesian

Despite the fact that Indonesian language is one of the easiest languages in the world, many expatriates do not think it necessary to find themselves a teacher when they want to learn Indonesian. They think that since the language is so easy, they’d be able to learn it casually only from the people around them, such as their secretary, maids, drivers, etc. But how long or how many years do you think it’d take for you to understand the language and eventually be able to use it in your every day’s life?

Those who have tried the above casual method to learn Indonesian have known the answerJ. Many of the expatriates who come to us to finally learn Indonesian with us have tried many years to ‘learn’ Bahasa from the locals around them but with no success at all.

No matter how easy a language might seem to be, if you really want to learn Indonesian, it is highly advisory to look for a professional, certified expert who has had years of experiences so that you will be guided and directed in the most effective and efficient ways. The learners are taught on the most important aspects of the language so that you wouldn’t need to learn other stuffs which are unimportant. The teachers can also give you some special assignments on how to increase your overall Indonesian speaking skills.

All these questions might be bothering you for some time yet you can not find the answers to all these questions. If you have difficulties in translating Indonesian sentences into English, or vice versa, I guess it is time for you to get yourself an Indonesian language teacher who can not only teach you how to speak in Indonesian (or Bahasa Indonesia), but also to understand some commonly used phrases used in daily conversation.

However if you need to translate some important documents into Indonesian, it is strongly recommended that you hire a professional, certified, sworn translator. Nowadays it is relatively not too difficult to find a sworn translator, but you still have to make sure the reputation of the translator. Be sure that the sworn translator you hire is really an experienced, professional one. Many people would claim themselves to be professional, sworn translators, yet their work doesn’t reflect that at all. So my advice is that you should go to the Indonesian embassy and ask for their reference.

Therefore if you want to translate this Indonesian sentence into English, it’d go like this:

(English) : Yesterday my friend bought three blue cars

(Indonesian) : Kemarin teman saya membeli tiga mobil biru

Another good news about translating English sentences into Indonesian is that there is barely any tenses in Indonesian language. So the sentences of “I bought a car” and “I buy a car” would be “Saya membeli mobil” in Indonesian language. Pretty easy, isn’t it?

However there are also some complex Indonesian sentences which require you to learn some in-depth knowledge about Indonesian grammar and phrases. And by joining an Indonesian language course, you should be able to understand the Indonesian language grammar, how to speak in Indonesian language by using the proper grammar and phrases, and of course, last but not least, do some Indonesian translations of your own.

Being one of the easiest languages in the world, Indonesian language can easily be learned and understood only within a relatively short period of time. And with proper knowledge, Indonesian translation should also come easy to you. All you need is your extra time and a good teacher to guide you professionally. Start learning Bahasa Indonesia now!

By: Indonesianlanguage.net

Where can I get a professional Indonesian translator service? What is the perfect Indonesian translation for this sentence? How can I translate these sentences into good Indonesian language? If you can hardly speak Indonesian and still have no time in joining a Bahasa Indonesia online course due to your being busy, you might have difficulty in understanding some Indonesian sentences. Of course, you can always get yourself a good, certified, experienced and professional Indonesian translator. But still even the most famous translator services make mistakes. A few years ago I happened to check some documents which had already been translated into English by a so-called-experienced translator in Jakarta. But to my surprise they still made a lot of mistakes here and there. The translator still even made minor mistakes he shouldn’t have made as a professional translator like him.

After several investigations, it turned out that the translation service company had several other junior employees who were really inexperienced and unprofessional. And the boss himself rarely did the work and he trusted all the jobs to his inexperienced employees! How could such a thing happen for such a long time and no one seems to even bother about it at all?

A professional Indonesian translator must do several tests before they can claim themselves to be a certified Indonesian translator. And only very few top candidates can get legal certificates certifying that they are truly certified and professional Indonesian translators and have the right to translate legal documents. And they are not supposed to delegate such important job to anyone else who barely knows anything about English, let alone translating legal documents!

So the question is: How do I find a REALLY professional Indonesian translator? Simply contact the Indonesian embassy who can later refer you to a professional Indonesian translator service.

How to be an Indonesian Translator

Interested in being an Indonesian translator? What are the criteria to be a good Indonesian translator?

First of all, you must (of course) understand the English language. You are not supposed to only understand basic English, but you have to really understand the language as a whole.

Secondly, you must also understand how to use the Indonesian language correctly. There are many Indonesian people whose English skill is as good as or even better than those people whose mother tongue is English yet their Indonesian language is worse than a fifth graderJ. Mastering the English language without having good Indonesian language skill will be useless if you want to be a professional language translator.

And finally, last but not least, if you are confident that your English skills are as good as your Indonesian, you have to get yourself certified by the Indonesian government. This is not an easy thing to do and the most important thing you must do before you can claim yourself to be a professional Indonesian translator. To get legal certification certifying that you are a professional English to Indonesian translator or vice versa requires hard work. This is the time when your English and Indonesian language capability is really put into a test. Be prepared for all the possibilities. During the 6-hour non-stop test, your English-to-Indonesian translating skill and vice versa will be tested. If you pass the test, you will be contacted in no more than 2 months. However if you do not pass the test, you may re-enter the test which is usually held once a year.

Now you know that it is not easy to be a certified and professional Indonesian translator. Everything requires hard work, and so is being an excellent translator. However if you succeed, a payment of 150,000 rupiahs per one page of an A4 paper document is waiting for you. That is the standard translation fee done by a certified and professional Indonesian translator. Can you imagine how much money you’d get if you could translate 100 pages per week? How much would you earn if you could get 500 pages a month? Tempting, isn’t it? Happy translating!

Are you one of those busiest people in the world yet you really want to learn Indonesian online to enable you to speak Bahasa Indonesia with the locals within a short period of time? If the answer is “yes”, this article below on how to learn Indonesian online effectively and efficiently might give you a better idea of how you should learn the language in a fun, easier way.

There are many reasons why non-English speaking people want to learn Indonesian online, mostly due to their time and space limitations. And thanks to technology. Now you can learn Indonesian online at your most convenient time without having to leave your house or office.

Learn Indonesian Online – Tools

What are the tips to learn Indonesian online successfully? Other than the tips which have been mentioned in the previous posts, there are some other learning tools which would help you learn the language more efficiently. These tools can help you find new Indonesian vocabularies fast, especially when you’re in the middle of conversation with someone who can barely speak English. You wouldn’t want to burden yourself by bringing around your super heavy English-Indonesian dictionary everywhere every time you have to speak to the locals, would you? Just imagine how troublesome it’d be. These tools are not only affordable, but they are also light weight so that you can carry them around or even put them in your pocket.

What I’m talking about is a talking dictionary. This talking dictionary works just like a calculator. The only difference is that you type the letters instead of numbersJ. This kind of dictionary can also remind you how to pronounce Indonesian words correctly. Nowadays there are a few types of talking dictionary with various brands in the market. For those who’d prefer to have a smaller size, you can choose the one of which size is almost as small as your mobile phone so that you can put it in your pocket easily.

Below are some examples of Indonesian talking dictionary which could help you learn Indonesian online more fun.

Why They Join Indonesian Online Course

By: Indonesianlanguage.net

Matthew, a member of Royal Australian Air Force, has joined an Indonesian Online class for several months prior to his coming to Indonesia to further his study. He is so interested to learn Indonesian language that he decides to leave his country and stays in Indonesia for several months just to improve his Bahasa Indonesia speaking skill.

He finds it necessary to learn the language so that he can not only communicate with the locals, but also read Indonesian books and newspaper. At first he learned Bahasa Indonesia when he was still at school. Then when he entered the Air Force, he found it even more important to learn the language, especially when he was sent to Aceh when tsunami struck several years ago.

But since he could hardly spare his time to come to Indonesia to learn Indonesian, he decided to engage in an online Indonesian lesson first before he came to Indonesia to learn more about the language. That way he could arrange his time more easily and he could even have an Indonesian online course on weekends, if necessary.

Teach Indonesian Online

Indonesian Online

Mr. Philip Butt, another Australian, has also learned the advantage of joining an Indonesian online course to improve his overall Indonesian language skills. Now with his excellent Indonesian speaking skill, he can travel throughout Indonesia with great self confidence. He’s no longer afraid of getting lost in a country where most people don’t speak English.

Nowadays he even thinks of teaching Indonesian language to university students in Australia. He strongly believes that Bahasa Indonesia, or Indonesian language, is one of the most important languages in South East Asia, especially when you have deep interest in Indonesia’s unique culture.
